BENEFITS FOR NEW IMMIGRANTS

Israel has always had a large package of benefits to Olim (New Immigrants.)
Some of them are:
- Olim are allowed to bring appliances and household goods from any country tax free.
- Mortgage Discount: Olim are entitled to interest rates lower than the market rate for up to approximately 150,000 shekels.
- Health insurance
- Hebrew studies
- Education
- Olim are customarily granted a discount of 70-90% on the Arnona payments (property taxes) and usually entitled to take advantage of this discount during one of the first two years after Aliyah
- Bituach Leumi (National Insurance Institute) offers a monthly stipend to all Israeli citizens based on the number of children under age 18 in their family. You are eligible for this benefit immediately following your Aliyah
- Olim pay a reduced tax rate on the purchase of a new car in Israel or the import of a car from abroad.

MORTGAGE DISCOUNT

- Granted up to 15 years after your Aliyah
- Provided as a loan with fixed rates (up to 3%).
- Paid back in monthly payments, for a period of anywhere between 10-30 years in 5 year increments.
- Because the amount of the Subsidy is rather small (80,000-200,000 NIS), you may need additional sources of funding. It is wise to shop around for the best rates.
- Certain cities entitle Olim to an additional sum as a gift of up to 40,000 or 60,000 This sum can be used for your down payment.
